The Pandemic and the Workshop (2021)
In 2021, Plastique Fantastique was invited by Casa del Lago UNAM in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Mexiko and the Faculty of Architecture UNAM to create a performative installation located in the spaces of Casa del Lago in the Bosque de Chapultepec in Mexico City. Due to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, an alternative free virtual workshop took place. During this, participants examined the work of the collective Plastique Fantastique and discussed topics such as public spaces in times of pandemic, performances vs. installations, and more.
The workshop welcomed artists from various fields such as performing arts, visual arts, film, and music, who were open to working alongside a group of students of architecture, landscape architecture, and industrial design. The participants were invited to develop an installation and programmatic proposals.
The Casa del Lago and the Intervention (2022)
In 2022, a revisited temporary architecture — created in cooperation with the Department of Landscape Architecture at the Dresden University of Applied Sciences — was finally installed in the public spaces of Casa del Lago. Three artistic collectives that participated in the previous year's workshop, led by Marco Canevacci and Yena Young, featured different activations inside and around the ephemeral environment. Among them were sound artist Malitzin Cortés (CNDSD), Teatro de la Rendija, EsporaLab, and Amplio Espectro.
